This event will explore the future of medicine from current innovation to new treatments & technologies in healthcare. This event is aimed at those with an interest in new medical advances and professionals from the computer & medical world.

Digital technology has gone hand in hand with medical breakthroughs. From the human genome project to biotherapeutics, drug discovery and robotic limbs for amputees, technology plays a vital role. Future Medicine has invited leading pioneers to explain the ways in which technology is allowing for medical and healthcare innovation.

Dr WJ Finlay, Global Director of Biotherapeutics at Pfizer will speak about the history of genetic engineering in drug discovery up to latest biotherapeutics and phage display antibody advances.

David Hay will give us an overview of where stem cell and regenerative medicine is at present and what advances are in development. 

Ken Sutherland, R&D Director at Toshiba Medtech will talk about medical devices and the future of healthcare.

Michael Herrmann will delve into the world of robotic limbs controlled by your brain.

Chairing the panel will be Western Infirmary Consultant Physician in Endocrinology Dr Chris Sainsbury.

Turing is a non profit festival bringing together digital technology and the web in a celebration of digital culture and creativity. Named in honour of Alan Turing, the festival moves beyond traditional tech conferences to explore the ways in which technology is affecting all aspects of culture and society.  The festival is collaboration between the Interreg IVB NWE funded Open Innovation Project, The City of Edinburgh Council and Interactive Scotland.
